Southern Slope, TarraWarra.
OVERVIEW
A unique vineyard planted on the TarraWarra Estate site. South facing with a gentle slope facing towards the Yarra River. Planted in 2002. Vine material was sourced from a prominent vineyard in Margaret River, WA. The site is quite sheltered from both warmer winds from the North and the warmer afternoon sun.

Chardonnay
CLONE/S
Gin Gin
SEASON NOTES
A vintage defined by both a cool and wet Spring and into early Summer. Warmer and dryer conditions were then experienced from mid-January onwards and has resulted in wines with great acidity, balance and flavour.
ALC/VOL
12.5%
HARVEST DATE
Hand harvested over two picks on the 9th and 12th February 2024.
WINEMAKING
The fruit was hand harvested and cooled overnight before whole bunch pressing the following morning. The juice was settled briefly before filling off to oak for fermentation. Upon the ferment being completed, the wines were sulphured and left on lees for maturation. A small portion went through malo-lactic fermentation prior to be sulphured to give further complexity and depth to the wine. The wine was blended in October, before bottling in December 2024.
OAK
Fermentation and maturation in 100% French oak Puncheons & Barriques for 7 months. 15% new oak.
CELLARING
Will drink well now and will continue to develop further complexity over the next 5–10 years.
COLOUR
Pale straw colour, indicative of its freshness and youth.
NOSE
Lifted aromatics centre around a citrus core. Pink grapefruit, Meyer lemon and lemonade characters all provide initial intrigue. An element of oak spice and toast is evident in the background.
PALATE
The wine opens with a vibrant citrus drive, led by the native lift of lemon myrtle and bergamot drive on the palate. This is complemented by savoury roasted nuts, with subtle inflections of oak spice and some sea spray characters. There’s a refreshing energy and verve on the palate which gives precision and persistence.
FOOD MATCH
Freshly shucked Sydney Rock Oysters, and a wedge of lemon.
