The excellent 2017 was a later and cooler year in the Yarra Valley. January and February brought perfect ripening conditions, with temperatures in the mid to high 20’s, and cool nights aiding retention of acid and fine flavor development. Careful vineyard management gives the fruit the qualities that are a hallmark of TarraWarra Estate Chardonnay.
Fruit for the Estate wine was sourced from 17-34 year-old vines across the property. The TarraWarra Estate vineyard has a northerly aspect across high sloping hill-sides, which provides good drainage and air circulation.
The grapes are all hand harvested at approximately seven tonnes per hectare.
