While Nebbiolo has a notoriously difficult reputation, we have been excited with our results; a wine that has classic Nebbiolo perfume and structure. The wine has a bright garnet colour, aromas of roses, smoked meats and spice, while the palate has bright fruit driven home by characteristic Nebbiolo tannins. It will reward years of cellaring.
Vintage Notes
The warmth of the 2016 vintage in the Yarra Valley produced perfect conditions for our later ripening varieties with harvest around 10 days earlier than 2015. The vines achieved ideal ripeness and flavor balance. Yield was 5.4 tonnes per hectare
Site Selection
A long north-west facing block with clay loam soils. The block has long produced red varieties with full flavour and a firm tannin structure. The northerly aspect allows for ideal conditions for this late- ripening variety.
