2017 Pinot Noir Rosé

This wine is grown, picked and made to be elegant in style, with lifted strawberry Pinot Noir aromas. It is a dry, yet succulent wine with fresh acidity and fine texture. A lovely aperitif enjoyed on its own or with lighter foods such as antipasto, pâté or fresh summer seafood.

Site selection: This block is a heritage site on TarraWarra Estate and it has one of the oldest plantings in the Yarra Valley. It is a shady site with sandy loam soils, which develops subtle fruit flavour and good acidity in the grapes.

Vintage notes: Cold conditions from early spring through to Christmas delayed fruit development until much later for the 2017 season. January and February were also on the cool side, and a burst of warm weather in late February kicked everything along nicely. Picking commenced 2 weeks later than recent years, and the fruit was absolutely perfect.

Reviews:

GARY WALSH The Wine Front, November 2017
So much pink coloured wine comes through the door these days, which is fine by me, because I quite like tasting and, when off-duty, drinking them. Soft, pretty, savoury complexity, almost an orange peel thing going on with the white cherry and liquorice. Fleshy, unobtrusive acidity, fine lightly chalky texture, and a satisfying finish. Very good. In fact, excellent in 2017.

HUON HOOKE The Real Review, November 2017
Very light salmon-pink colour with a savoury, straw, hay and smoky strawberry aroma, quite pinot-like. It's light-bodied and soft, beautifully balanced and crafted, with softness and harmony, and more-ish savoury flavours. It has a touch of richness. The finish is properly dry and it lingers well.
