2016 Pinot Noir Rosé

This wine is grown, picked and made to be elegant in style, with lifted strawberry Pinot Noir aromas. It is a dry, yet succulent wine with fresh acidity and fine texture. A lovely aperitif enjoyed on its own or with lighter foods such as antipasto, pâté or fresh summer seafood.

Site selection: This block is a heritage site on TarraWarra Estate and it has one of the oldest plantings in the Yarra Valley. It is a shady site with sandy loam soils, which develops subtle fruit flavour and good acidity in the grapes.

Vintage notes: 2016 vintage started off warm in December, followed by a mild January. The fruit for this wine is picked early to retain natural acidity and elegant flavour, seasonal conditions ensured fruit in perfect health with optimum balance.

Have rosés suddenly gotten serious or have I just gotten serious about them? There's a wave of them that are serious and seriously good wine, like this one. 8.8/10

REGAN DREW Vino Notebook, 18 Jan 2017
True rose gold colour. Delicate light red fruit aromas of cherries and strawberries before a small amount of Danish pastry richness, fresh grass and red apple skin. A wine of texture and structure. Almost austere red fruits take the background whilst a balance between soft tannins and medium acidity ensures a quality palate experience. Delicate winemaking sees this a tremendous value wine.

Rosé has made such giant strides in Australia over the past decade. Here is further proof. This just goes to show that you can make a ‘yum’ style of rose without resorting to trickery. It’s dry and pale but it’s more-ish to its back teeth. It’s cranberried and strawberry, perhaps even tipping into redcurrant, with spice and herb notes aplenty. In short, it works a treat.

I wouldn't need much persuasion to have a couple of glasses of this. Fruit to start, savoury to finish - bam!

Aromas are alive with red cherries, white chocolate raspberry ice cream plus strawberries. The palate is ribbed for pleasure with savoury nuances in charge. The mouth is filled with ease. Textural appeal adds another element of enjoyment leading to a long and satisfying finish.

Super buying and fab drinking. Get in the queue.  92/100 - Very good
