2014 Roussanne Marsanne Viognier

With a strong heritage in the Yarra Valley, these three Rhone Valley white varieties have performed incredibly well across just a small area on the estate.  The combination of these three varieties builds a wine with lifted honeysuckle perfume, fine acidity, great texture and length.  The overall effect is a savoury wine that is ideal with a range of food types.

Site selection: North facing vineyard, good air flow and exposure to sunlight. Steep slopes and a clay loam soil provide excellent site drainage.

Vintage notes: he 2014 vintage was warm and dry with these conditions giving advanced ripening across all varieties. All our white varieties from this vintage were excellent, earlier picking and lower sugar helped retain the finesse of the wine.

Reviews:

JAMES HALLIDAY Wine Companion 2017
This powerful mouthfilling wine comes from just seven rows of vines, the flavours starting with apple and apricot, finishing with a powdery acidity that lends it real character. This blend often lacks the X-factor that this wine has. 95/100

CAMPBELL MATTINSON The Wine Front, 09 Nov 2015
Seven rows of vines have created this gorgeous Rhone white blend. This is how it’s done. This is many things at once: floral and perfumed, racy and refreshing, and fleshed out with flavour. Almonds, apricot, milk powder and apple notes swing through the mouth before a dry, powdery, textural finish takes the reins.
